5 CITIES
JAIPUR – On summer 2011, we traveled to the mesmerizing capital of Rajasthan. Jaipur! A city of colorful turbans, imaginative moustaches and anklet bearing Elephants.
We arrived with empty suitcases which were soon filled by the splendors we found in the humming ancient bazaars that excite and entice. We were introduced to designers of all cultural backgrounds who are magnetized to this wondrous capital.
Founded by Jai Singh in the 17th century, Jaipur is known as the ‘Pink City’. The walls of the old city are washed in a warm terracotta pink color that stands as the perfect backdrop to the vibrant colors that the citizens use to adorn themselves with.
Surrounded by three majestic ancient forts, one can feel at the first instant the rich regal history that runs through the veins of the city. Many warm, balmy nights were spent drinking fresh nimbu panis under starry skies, listening to distant tribal drums, engrossed by the raw beauty of the raw, ancient Kingdom.
We were sad to leave but excited to return with all our finds to Beirut. If you haven’t been yet, Jaipur should definitely be the next destination on your holiday list, but be sure to go sometime from October to January… summers in this Rajhastani desert makes August in Beirut seem like a breeze !
PARIS – On summer 2012, we changed radically our destination and went to discover the city of light, Paris! With sparkling eyes, we met great and curious designers working by hand in Paris. We wandered in new areas and discovered places no one knew about and decided to create our own city guide to share our treasures!
Everybody knows Paris or imagine it in some ways. It was tricky to find new visons of Paris while not disappointing our friends and clients. So it was through the magic of Art Déco ambiance that we selected the beautiful work of some of the most daring Parisian designers.
Photos soon.
